Hair's To You, Lil' Miss Robinson

Natalie's hair is getting so long. I love doing it every single day. Thankfully she cooperates mostly every time.

I recently did a half pony tail in her hair for the first time and thought it looked really pretty on her. It is difficult keeping those side wispies up though.

I also did a double French braid recently that actually stayed in all day...well up until nap time.

I love her long hair and I want to continue letting it grow out but I'm thinking about getting it cut before this summer to even it out and help clean it up a bit. Stay tuned (but don't hold your breath!) for pics of her new do', and first real haircut, in the future.

This Mama?

This Mama having a tea party one morning in February with the girls.

A common Natalie phrase these days is "This Mama?" as in "Are you talking about you, Mama?" Of course I'm talking about me, how many other mamas does she have? The first time it appeared was when I was telling Natalie about birthdays coming up in March and I told her with exclamation that "Mama has a birthday coming too!" She walked over and pointed to me and said, "This Mama?" Yes, this Mama! I found it very amusing and clever. Thus began 'This Mama?' to which she has extended it to This Papa?, This Natalie?, etc.

Today we had just finished dressing and swaddling her baby and Natalie was holding her little bundle and looking in the mirror very pleased with herself. I told her that she was a good mommy. She repeated that idea a couple of times, still grinning at herself in the mirror, and then the following conversation occurred.

N: This Mama? (pointing to me)

Me: Yep, I'm a Mama. Are you a mama?

N: Yes.

Me: Is this your baby? (Me pointing to Baby Stella in her arms)

N: Yes.
(Pause. Thinking.)
This Mama? (pointing again) This Papa? (pointing at the front door--where Dusty comes through every evening from work)
Papa, boy.

Me: Yes, Papa's a boy.

N: Name: Dusty.

And there you have it. The wheels are a turnin'! : )

Flyer

Dusty thought of a great idea to make a couple of bucks:  We would post flyers all over town that say

I lost 7 pounds in one night.  Ask me how!

Our method is probably a little unorthodox and not for the faint of heart.  We had the stomach flu.  Three out of four of us were vomiting.  Dusty came home early Monday afternoon because he didn't feel well.  Shortly after he got home, his bout began.  Ironically, I had just finished explaining to Natalie what "throwing up" meant when she decided to try it out herself.  Thankfully she only threw up twice that evening and acted completely normal and dandy afterward.  My turn came at 3:30 in the morning.  Dusty really had it worse than all of us and I'm so thankful that Maggie wasn't affected at all.  Dusty and I were laid out all day yesterday.  We were blessed by two friends from church who came and took the girls for a walk for an hour so we could get some shut eye.  Then they grabbed a few groceries from the store for us.  Another dear friend made us chicken soup and homemade bread for dinner last night.  We are so thankful for the body of Christ!  We are all recovered, just weak still.  Thank you to those of you who knew and were praying for us!  I'm bummed that it was our first day of sunshine with 50+ degrees and we were laid out on the couch!  Oh well.  Spring is just around the corner.  More beautiful days to come.  Hope all of you are healthy and stay that way!
