Trying Out Mama's Camelbak

Another trick

Natalie started doing this "balancing thumb trick" awhile back, always when she would nurse. I don't understand the fascination with it, but she sure likes to do it a lot now wherever. I do love watching her discover new things about herself and how other things work too. And I absolutely love her little round belly, her chubby cheeks, and her pudgy fingers!

Wounded Soldier

Recipe for clearing eczema: steeped calendula flowers, gauze, a non-wiggly baby (if you can find one), and lots of prayer.

Natalie still has eczema behind her knees and in her elbow pits (Dusty's anatomy term) as I'm sure you have noticed from some of her pictures. The severity of it varies on any given day, but it has never cleared completely. We are still trying to find out if it is something in my diet that she is reacting to through the breast milk and so later in July after all of our trips, I am going to do a super hard thing--an elimination diet. I will only have a couple handfuls of things that I can eat for two weeks and then I will slowly reintroduce the foods that I've abstained from to see if one causes a flare-up in Natalie. So no dairy, no gluten (wheat) products, no soy, no nuts, no citrus fruits, and many other things. Hopefully during the two week trial Natalie's eczema will clear up completely and it will be obvious when I eat the "bad food." I'll let you know how things go when the time comes. Please pray with us that the Lord would heal Natalie's skin completely and specifically that it would not irritate her anymore.

P.S. Natalie is just wrapped up temporarily--don't worry, she doesn't look like this all the time!

Boo Video

Thankfully Natalie thought this was pretty funny too. I'm hiding on the stairs around the corner from her. Dusty and I get a kick out of it every time we watch it and thought you might too.

Father's Day

For Father's Day, I made Dusty cupcakes of his favorite strawberry cake (minus the homemade frosting unfortunately due to time) and a homemade "Papa" frame I learned from Martha (aka Martha Stewart). And although I think he should have to wait until Natalie is at least three and can exclaim "Papa, we got you a grill!" way before the big day, Natalie and I with Dusty's parents got him a grill also. The one he has now is literally on it's last leg so I guess it's okay that he got his Father's Day grill a few years in advance.

I also want to add that Dusty totally deserves his new grill and so much more! You are even more amazing as a father than I knew you would be and you've only just begun!

Natalie-isms

Well this update is a little late but wanted to share with you what Natalie's been doing the last month to month and a half.

Playing with her feet
Yea! She can finally reach her feet! I think she has been hindered by her "big butt" (wearing cloth diapers at home) but a week in Seattle, wearing disposable diapers, opened up new avenues of exploring those lower appendages. Now she's built up the abs to even play with her feet in cloth diapers. ; )

Making things work--Natalie, you make the world go 'round!
It's so great to watch Natalie begin to "get it" as she's learning cause and effect. While playing in the excer-saucer, she's learned to push all the buttons that make the songs play, flip the book tabs, move the balls up and down along the caterpillar, and make the world go 'round. We are so thankful to our friends who let us borrow this fun toy. Also, we have rings that hang down from the closet bar, where her dresser and changing table are, and her new thing is to violently shake the rings up and down the bar. She often pulls them apart too.

Standing on books so she can touch the bottom : )

Squealing
Natalie has discovered her "high voice" and loves to hear herself. This video doesn't even capture her true talking, but it can give you an idea. It's so fun to hear her talking to herself in the mornings now.

Laughing--a lot!
Dusty has found most of Natalie's tickle spots now. This is what they often do when he gets home from work. Maybe one day, Natalie and I can team up on him.

Reading books

Still working on rolling over 100% independently, but I figure she'll do it when she feels like it. I'm in no hurry for her to grow up fast and definitely not in any hurry for her to be mobile. I'm just enjoying her for exactly where she is at today!

This was after already working on it a few times so she was pretty tired. (Her "Michael Jackson glove" is so she doesn't scratch her ouchy.)

Another dream note

Well, I just wanted to let everyone know that Natalie does not always have intense dreams thankfully. Today when I went in to check on her, she was laughing in her sleep! I loved it! I wish I could lay down next to her, put our heads together, and enter into whatever she is dreaming about. It made me really happy to see that she was dreaming about something wonderful.

The last few nights Natalie has been sleeping from bedtime (7:00pm) to 5:00am which has been great. I'm so anxious for her to sleep from 7-7. Although, I had thought (and desperately hoped) that Natalie would be sleeping through the night by now, I've still been feeding her once in the middle of the night when she woke somewhere between 3am-4am (but now it's 5am!) I sure hope she continues to stretch her night out past 5am because I've vowed to cut her off from the night feedings at 6 months--come tears or no tears! This mama wants a whole nights, uninterrupted sleep! I don't really think she needs the feeding but rather I think it's a habit waking up and maybe a comfort thing. But our girl is a trooper with everything and I know she will learn fast (but I'm hoping, hoping, hoping she does it on her own--and soon!)
