A "Hike"

We went to Bobcat Ridge Natural Area near Fort Collins for a little "hike" and picnic with the girls this past weekend.

Dusty can hardly wait to start really hiking with Natalie. He had to keep telling himself that he was on a nice walk to keep his expectations in check because 21 month olds don't really have the speed or agility for the fourteeners yet. : ) But we did refer to our expedition as a hike to Natalie and she loved it.

A school was there on a field trip and hid different objects along the path for what we assumed was some sort of lesson. We enjoyed hunting for their hidden treasure and even stumbled across some wildlife: a bobcat (stuffed kitten), a raccoon (another stuffed animal), and a Pica (you got it--another stuffed animal). We also saw some live wildlife: horses. : ) Natalie couldn't get enough of the horseback riders that passed us on the trail and kept asking for "Mo! Mo!" (more). Sometimes it's hard to explain to a toddler that you do not have control of everything. : )

Natalie loved stirring up the grasshoppers in the grass.

Happy trails to you!
