August 2012
We went to Grand Lake with George and Julie for a weekend and were thankful to be able to stay in Aunt Margie's condo while we were there. The road was very winding and did not make for happy campers.
But lots of fun was to be had when we got there. We rented a pontoon boat and drove it to a little island where Grandma and Grandpa had a scavenger hunt planned for the girls.
The captain
A little hazy from fires but still lovely.
Lots of osprey in the area.
We took our pontoon boat to the same island that Dusty, Shane, and his cousins used to explore on. One of the highlights of the trip was when Julie and George were setting up the scavenger hunt and discovered a bull moose on the island with us about 30 yards away. We soon discovered not one bull moose but five! It was an amazing thing to see so close.
Searching for goodies.
Rainbow rock.
We finished our scavenger hunt and soon got back on the boat, perfectly safe.
Driving lesson.
We had such a great time. Other highlights include paddle boating, playing on the best miniature golf course and beating Dusty as well as scoring the most holes in one (5), bingo date with Dusty two nights in a row with Dusty winning $13, and the yummiest breakfast buffet EVER at the Fat Cat Cafe.
There are so many memories here for Dusty growing up and this was the start to making memories here with our little family. Thanks for a fun weekend, George and Julie.
