Back to School 2018

Maggie thinks Ms. MacBlane is the best teacher ever!  Her teacher raved on the first day about how helpful Maggie is and also informed us that she gave her her own special notebook where Maggie can write down all the questions that pop into her head to be answered at a later time (a technique that every teacher has done with her since first grade.)  She is very inquisitive and likes to know exactly what is happening.  She is extremely nurturing and one parent even requested that their child be put in the same class with Maggie because of the support and kindness that she offers her peers.  Maggie is going to continue another year of piano in the Let's Play Music program called Bridges.

Sabrina really likes her new teacher, Mrs. Hagen.  Mrs. Hagen thinks "Sabrina is awesome."  Sabrina's birthday fell on the third day of school and she chose to have one of her favorite books, The Night Gardener, read to the class to celebrate.  She is an excellent student and I'm excited to see her take off this year.  She will also begin her first year on piano (2nd year in the Let's Play Music program).

This is Natalie's last year in elementary school (and my first and last year to have everyone on the same schedule at the same school).  She loves how Mrs. Maul is so organized.  Mrs. Maul has already raved about Natalie as well.  She is in the gifted and talented program, a young scholar, and will be a part of a 6th grade math enrichment group.  She applied, auditioned, and won a spot on the morning announcement team for the Spring semester.  She is super excited to go on a three day trip to the mountains with the whole 5th grade class at her school this September.  They do a lot of team building activities like ropes courses, hiking, bonfires, and other ecological learning experiences.  Fifth grade means Eco Week, Science Fair projects, and sitting anywhere and with anyone at lunch.  She's one of the top in her class and I know this is going to be a great year for her.   Natalie is also continuing her second year of private piano lessons. 

I will be volunteering in the girls' classes and helping at the school in other ways, and I am also going to be a mentor mom for the mom's group at our church.  Dusty celebrated 20 years at his company this past May and I am so proud of him for his faithfulness and hard work.  He is contributing writing for a hydraulic engineering resource manual and is heading up the project, keeping him extremely busy among his other projects.
